He is fifty-five and she is thirty-five. She has three kids from a previous marriage. She has done this a few times before; the two most recent last minute cancellations were five weeks ago and three weeks ago. He told her he wasn’t mad, even though she kept saying that he was. Normally they talk every day, but he hasn’t heard from her in five days now.
