Justice Alan Lawson was recently sworn in as the 86th justice to the Florida Supreme Court. In 1987, he began his legal career at a private firm as a trial lawyer, before serving for four years as an Assistant County Attorney in Orange County. He was appointed to the Circuit bench in the Ninth Judicial Circuit and later served as an appellate judge in the Fifth District Court of Appeal where he went on to become Chief Judge.
