Rock Star Video Description This episode is a part of our Blog-vember 2019 trifecta of three posts a day—a video, a podcast, and a blog post. This year the focus is tips for the D.I.Y. Rock Star. We developed these methods through our own decades worth of experiences. We’re happy to offer some ways that we have dealt with a variety of things and share what has helped us move forward in joy and with peace of mind. If these strategies help you, then we are happy. Pick it up, crank up a YouTube How To video, and get to playing. Learn a few chords and, before you know it, you will know enough to write a song. Don’t be overwhelmed. It might make it easier if you start learning songs first, in order to learn your way around the instrument. There are a variety of ways to learn, so you should experiment in order to figure out what works best for you. Don’t worry about the technical aspects first (notes, theory, etc.); learn a few songs, then you will learn the chords and your fretboard. If you are inspired to play, then surrender to the process and let it unfold. Then, exercise patience and institute practice. Bruce keeps his bass and his guitar by the couch—in front of the television—so that he can practice everyday. Finally, run your own race. Don’t worry about competing with anyone else.
