Comparing yourself to others

We are Believers: Podcast show

Summary:
Almost every day, we compare ourselves to other people. Often we take someone as an example of what we think we should be. We want to be able have what they have or do what they do. And very often, we become upset or jealous because we are not as beautiful, successful, or happy as someone else seems to be.

We can look at Hollywood celebrities, famous musicians or worldclass atheletes as benchmarks, even as they are somewhere far away in a fairytale land living the lives we think we wish to live. We can imitate their clothing or hairstyles and use the products that we are told that they use with no distress.

But comparing ourselves with friends, acquaintances and colleagues is different and somehow much more frustrating. Why did the person you sat right next to in class receive a better grade than you? Are they smarter? Better? Luckier?

How is your friend happily married while you are still alone? Maybe because she's prettier or slimmer or has bigger breasts?

Should we try to be more intelligent, more attractive, more interesting, more productive? Or should we just learn to love ourselves for who we are?

Is it possible to love ourselves for who we are and not to pay attention to other people?

Where is the line between comparison and competition? How do you compare yourself to others for your own benefit and not to your own detriment?

All that and much more in this episode. Our stories, advice, doubts and theories.

Our opinions didn't align until the end, so as you listen while compare our positions, let us know who's viewpoint resonates with you most.

Or should we even try to make such comparisons?

Looking forward to hear from you!!

www.facebook.com/WRbelievers

www.instagram.com/wrbelievers

www.youtube.com/channel/UCQX4fEyuM7O054b3h23Jf5g/

https://twitter.com/wrBelievers

Daria Hackenberg (Russia, currently based in Berlin, Germany)

Project Manager and Agilist, passionate in philosophical aspect of life and with deep understanding to people nature.

daria on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/darialifelover

daria on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/darialifelover

Hollis P Monroe (USA, currently based in Berlin, Germany)

DJ/Music producer and YouTube conversationalist who thoroughly enjoys talking about a variety of topics in and outside of the music world.

hollisTalks on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/Hollistalks hollis on instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hollispmonroe/

hollis on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/hollispmonroemusically

hollis on line: http://pmonroe.com/

Hollis talks to Daria: https://bit.ly/HollisTalksToDaria
--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/wearebelievers/message
