Hooked On Wooden Boats Podcast | Celebrating the Art, Craft, History & Tradition of Wooden Vessels Worldwide show

Summary: PODCAST SHOW NOTES - Episode #23 Interview - Julia Maynard, co-owner Haven Boatworks, Port Townsend, WA Julia took a keen interest in wooden boats while attending The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA and taking the integrated studies "Marine History and Crafts" program which was focused on wooden vessels.  During the program the students learned boat design, lofting, building and heard outside gurus such as designer Bob Perry. Shortly after college, Julia landed at Mystic Seaport, CT apprenticing under the accomplished late designer/builder John Gardner for a full year.  Julia then went on to build a 34' Yawl rigged sailboat with her hubby and sailed to the far seas.  Click on the green player button above for all the gory details. Here's some pics to enjoy (click to enlarge):       Listener Feedback and Comments: Thanks to Bob Cull for granting me permission to continue using his original music piece "Shanty Hymn/Sailor's Jig" for the intro and outro of my podcast. Here's a link to Bob's music.  Also here's a pic of Bob's gorgeous catboat "Artichoke": Also hats off to Nick Fahey who is the owner of this gorgeous purse seiner moored in Anacortes, WA.  I came across this rig while trolling the docks in Anacortes, WA looking for wooden vessels among all the white bobbing plastic stuff.   Want to help?  Please leave feedback! I want to build a community of people from all over the world who want to connect, learn, share stories and photos, and have fun with wooden boats.  I would REALLY appreciate you sending me wooden boats pics, stories, or projects you are working on.  You can also write in my blogs comment sections, email me at Dan@Hookedonwoodenboats.com, or call my feedback hotline at 424 261-2360.  And click on Subscribe to subscribe to my email news list.
