103. Embodying Queen of Swords with Rebecca Davis, MA, MSW co-founder of artic

Tarot for the Wild Soul with Lindsay Mack show

Summary: Today’s episode of Tarot for the Wild Soul is such a special one, as we explore the essence of Queen of Swords and Justice with our guest, Rebecca Davis, MA, MSW! Rebecca is a Portland OR based trauma therapist, and the co-founder (with Shea Lowery, MS, LPC) of artic LLC, an organization dedicated to teaching white folx about the racial, systemic, historical, and inter/intragenerational trauma BIPOC individuals experience daily, and to dismantle health and service systems that refuse to meet the needs of peoples of color. Queen of Swords is the keeper of sacred, unapologetic boundaries. This archetype honors their own needs in order to serve others, and invites us to reclaim our sovereign space and autonomy. Queen of Swords is simultaneously fierce and gentle, occupying the realms of water and air, emotion and mind. This being is who we call upon when we want to evolve our thinking, when we are devoted to separating the noise of our brain from the truth of our soul. By slicing into the din and confusion of the mind, Queen of Swords can help us to look deeply at what needs to be acknowledged in order for us to grow and step forward. When we blend this energy with Justice, we are more committed than ever before to transforming ourselves personally and systemically from the roots up. The only way that we can have true, lasting change with Justice is to begin with what’s here, not what should be, or what we wish would be. Only when we can honor the truth of this moment will we truly be free to change in a lasting way. Topics in this episode: •Rebecca’s journey that led to the creation of artic, and her connection with her co-founder, Shea •What it means to center black and brown folks in trauma informed care •Beginning to look at the roots of systemic racism •Things that white helping professionals can do to make their practices more inclusive and less harmful ABOUT REBECCA: Rebecca Davis, MA, MSW, is a trauma therapist living and working in Portland, OR.
