Summary: Tech Heroes are from Chicago's Southside too!! What? Fireside Chat, Project Demo, Developer Networking & Breakout Sessions Speakers Include: Neal Sáles-Griffin (Techstars - Hyde Park), Tiffany Mikell (Appolition - Kenwood & Chatham), Christyn Freemon (Project Forward - Bronzeville), Ehi Aimiuwu (Code Burnout - Englewood), Danie Banks (ThoughtWorks - South Shore), DJ Cory Vicious (University of Chicago) & More! Why? Do you want to support using tech to solve problems in all Chicago neighborhoods? Have you met many of the tech folks on your side of town? All of us can help both change the world with tech AND change the world of tech! How? During this event, we'll explore: What are some ways you can imagine leveraging tech to solve problems in Chatham, South Shore, Englewood, Pullman and other neighborhoods? How do you get funding for your “neighborhood tech” idea? How can you contribute to tech projects working toward creating equity on the Southside? Who? InclusiveDev (also known as #IncDev) is an event series launched in 2014 by ZaMLabs (creator of Appolition & TheMediaLab: CHI) to encourage inclusive practices within tech and to EXPAND THE CONVERSATION on WHO gets to call themselves a technologist as well as shed light on projects developed by geeks from ALL walks of life. This event is presented by Code Nation & SITE - Economic Equity Collective. Where? The Woodlawn: Economic Innovation Hub (79th & Woodlawn) Steps from 79th/Chatham - Metra Electric Station & Lots of street parking. We’re also hosting Co-Working Monday that day, so feel free to come early and work + collaborate with other co-workers. Code Nation is a nonprofit on a mission to equip students in under-resourced high schools with the skills, experiences and connections that together create access to careers in technology. We'll be launching our programs in Chicago for the first time in September, 2019. ZaMLabs is a tech incubator and media lab, founded in June 2014, focused on building tools that increase economic justice for marginalized communities.
