Summary: Dr. Metzner has decades of experience as a behavioral psychology and clinical laboratory research scientist. He began home hospice work during the AIDS epidemic in 1982, and gained inpatient medical hospice experience beginning with the death of his partner Chuck Lilly, III, in 1994, later serving as a volunteer and trainer for hospice volunteers and professionals with the San Diego Veterans Medical Center, a residential social model hospice project he co-founded with his late husband, Gabriel Gelbart.
