Summary: Nehemiah takes on the huge task of rebuilding the city wall after hearing about the state of Jerusalem, asking the king for permission to go there and finally seeing the ruinous city for himself. Once the rebuilding project commences in Nehemiah 1-3 he faces additional trials when some rabble-rousers surface to mock and challenge the work.
