Addressing the 7-7 Cubs with Ryan Davis

Locked On MLB - Daily Podcast On Major League Baseball show

Summary: Welcome to Locked on MLB, your daily national podcast covering Major League Baseball as part of the Locked on Podcast Network hosted by Tommy Stokke. Today's show welcomes in special guest Ryan Davis to discuss the state of the Chicago Cubs now and as a whole. Ryan joins the show in Segment 3.  First in Segment 1 we take a look around the league at what happened on Monday with scores and notes from each game, including Julio Teheran's outing against the Phillies, the Yankees thrashing the Marlins, the Astros continuing their offensive cold spell and the Nationals big comeback against the Mets.  Segment 2 is a brief rundown of Tuesday's games, highlighted by David Price and the Boston Red Sox taking on Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels.  Segment 3 is the highlight of the show as Ryan Davis of Locked on Cubs joins to discuss his concern level and what exactly is going wrong with the Cubs thus far. He serves as the voice of reason to those who want Chili Davis and Jim Hickey fired already without ignoring the problems the pitching staff and lineup have seen thus far.  After assessing the pitching, Ryan gives his thoughts on the lineup, including what to do with Ian Happ and Albert Almora and refreshing our memories on the one big thing the Cubs are missing (and getting back).  Finally, they look at the organization as a whole and some of the questions the team could face moving forward, including Addison Russell and Javier Baez in the middle infield, playing time for Happ and Almora and whether or not they made the right decision by holding most of their prospects and only acquiring Jose Quintana while spending money on the rest of the rotation.
