41. Ladies Get Paid’s Founder on How You Can Support Their Gender Discrimination Suit

The Lifestyle Edit Podcast show

Summary: One of the many upsides of the political landscape right now has been the proliferation of groups created for and by women – spaces that facilitate likeminded women connecting and advocating for themselves. For centuries, men have enjoyed membership of clubs and organisations that explicitly exclude women but now litigious men’s rights activities (MRAs) are challenging the legality of the new women’s organisations that have emerged. On the day of the second’s women march back in January of this year, Ladies Get Paid founder Claire Wasserman was served with a lawsuit under the Unruh Act, a comprehensive piece of civil rights legislation in California. Not only was the company sued, but Wasserman and a group of her ambassadors were also sued personally. We caught up with Claire to learn more about the case and why Ladies Get Paid has decided to settle rather than take the case to court. She gets candid about the toll the case has her on her emotionally and shares steps we can all take to protect groups that advocate for women. Please subscribe, rate and review the podcast on iTunes.
