Ire and her husband, Writer Jose Iriarte during Tampa Bay Comic Con in Tampa Florida. Elle E. Ire resides in the Disney-created town of Celebration, Florida, with her spouse, twin daughters, and two dogs. A graduate of the University of Miami, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in creative writing but left the MFA program when they refused to allow her to write genre fiction, instead receiving a Master’s in Literature mostly made up of writing courses. Currently, she teaches writing to seventh and eighth graders. She and her spouse run several writing groups, as well as present at many local and statewide conferences. Jose Iriarte is a Cuban-American, y mi primer idioma fue español. Two of the things he’s most grateful to his parents for are teaching him Spanish first, and making sure that no matter how hard times were, he always had books to read. Jose began writing his first unfinished trunk novel when he was eleven. In college, he had two majors–Mathematics and Literature–and two minors–Computer Science and Theology. “Elective” was just a word I heard from other people. Though he’s taught mathematics for over twenty years now, he attended graduate school (at Clemson University) for literature, not mathematics. Jose has worked as an editor, a computer programmer, a government researcher, a tutor to the rich and/or famous, and as a teacher….and as a pizza delivery guy. He has a theatre/musical theatre background—a tenor two, and not especially prone to stage fright. He was married inside the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World and is the adoptive parent of beautiful twin girls. Jose never set out to write Young Adult stories..he set out to write stories. Later on, other people explained to him that YA was what he had written.
