Conversation with Paul Bishop, Councillor at Redland City Council on Preferred Futures and the Renaissance of Community

People My Dog Would Like show

Summary: My guest for this episode is Paul Bishop, the founder of Arts Evolution (and their Chief Inspiration Officer), Director of The Red Place and an elected councillor for the city of Redland in Queensland. Arts Evolution is an ethical enterprise approach to many of the existing and emerging challenges facing the arts, the community, the non-profit sector and local small-medium enterprises as the global economy forces us into a ‘climate of change’. He and i met recently through a futures program with Sohail Inayatullah and Colin Russo on the Gold Coast which inspired me and left me thinking he’s got a lot to share, and we have a lot to learn from him. He’s been keenly watching and led by the work being done around the world and Australia, through the work of David Throsby, Transition Towns Australia, Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, Michael Schuman, Judy Wicks, Skoil World Forum on Social Entrepreneurship – there’s a lot to learn and just loved loved loved having him on and can’t wait to have him back to learn more. If you want to contact Paul Bishop directly you can reach him through The Red Place website.
Opening music is Helpless Blues, don’t worry, the irony in the title is not lost on me, by the fabulous The Bamboos, a hot Melbourne band. If you have any questions about the content in the show or have some feedback I’d love you to contact me directly at lizzie@lizziemettam.com or through my website. Would love to know who you may want me to be a guest on the show, so don’t be shy and let me know!
