NEWS: Kristen Wiig Officially Joins The DC Movie Universe!

Summary: Just a week after speculating about the possible signing of Bridesmaids star Kristen Wiig to the villainous role of Cheetah in DC's upcoming Wonder Woman 2, Director Patty Jenkins has now officially confirmed the decision with Wiig set to join the Wonder Woman team when the movie starts production later in the year. Jenkins tweeted - "So excited to confirm the most thrilling news. Yes! It's true! So incredibly lucky to welcome the sensationally talented Kristen Wiig to our Wonder Woman family. Can't wait to finally work with one of my favourites. And SO excited by what we have planned. #Cheetah!!!" Wiig is best known as a long time cast member on American sketch comedy show SNL but her breakout role came in the form of 2011 comedy smash hit Bridesmaids! Although voted one of the funniest women in America, Wiig also received critical acclaim for her work in the 2014 drama The Skeleton Twins co-starring alongside fellow SNL star Bill Hader. Wonder Woman has been the struggling DC movie universe's shining light, receiving both critical acclaim and box office success when it debuted in June of 2017. Both Wonder Woman Director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot have resigned for the sequel and with the addition of Wiig, will look to recapture the magic of the original when Wonder Woman 2 debuts in November of 2019.
