Summary: Episode #002 – Welcome Dr. Lina Alathari, Chief of the National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) under the Protective Intelligence and Assessment Division (PID) for the Secret Service. On this episode, we discuss enhancing school safety. The United State Secret Service (USSS) released their National Threat Assessment Center (NTAC) Operational Guide for Preventing School Violence on July 12, 2018. Dr. Alathari talks with us about ensuring safe learning environments for elementary and secondary school students, educators, administrators, and others. We discuss training the Secret Service personnel provides across the country free of charge to help aid in this pursuit. NTAC’S recent releases include Enhancing School Safety Using a Threat Assessment Model, Enhancing School Safety Using a Threat Assessment Model Brief, USSS Report on Mass Attacks in Public Spaces. Along with a quick reference guide titled, "Making Schools Safer." NTAC’s latest study examined 43 attacks directed toward federal facilities and officials in the United States from 2001 – 2013.
