This is a not-to-be-missed event filled with inspiring music, dance, powerful stories, and star power.<br>As of February 2015, We Can Change the World Day has been recognized by Canadian House of Commons for outstanding youth and community engagement.<br>Our special guests include:<br>Craig Kielburger – Co-Founder of the WE Movement, humanitarian, activist, and New York Times best-selling author.<br>Hannah Alper – York Region’s own youth social media activist, Me to We motivational speaker, WE ambassador, eco-warrior, and change-maker.<br>Mike Atom &amp; Rosie Ferguson – radio hosts of York Region’s popular The Mike &amp; Rosie Show on 105.9 The Region<br>.<br>Our performers include:<br>Tai Young – Easter Seals Ambassador and TVO Kids Reporter<br>Wali Shah – Spoken word poet, artist educator, and Canada’s Top 20 Under 20 Award Recipient Delicia Raveenthrarajan – Spoken word artist, musician, and speaker on global and social issues.<br>AND MORE!<br>Doors open at 1:30; Show runs from 2pm to 4:30pm.<br>Inspired by ‘WE Day’ – our local youth in York Region has spent countless hours volunteering and fundraising for the Kalthana school in Rajistan, India we adopted through WE. All proceeds from the big show will go towards helping eliminate the obstacles preventing children and their communities from accessing education, clean water, and healthcare.<br>Background of We Can Change the World Day<br>For more information, please visit <a href="http://www.wecanchangetheworld.ca">www.wecanchangetheworld.ca</a> - 2 of 3<br>We Can Change the World Day is a youth-led community organization based in Richmond Hill, Ontario, aimed at engaging youth volunteerism, leadership, and social action while raising funds for WE (formerly Free the Children), an international charity and education partner.<br>With biennial self-titled events, “We Can Change the World Day” and “We Can Change the World Day 2,” and year-round fundraisers—from coffeehouses to concerts to garage sales—WCCTWD raised awareness around the York Region and succeeded in fundraising over $36,000 from 2013 to 2016. With this, WCCTWD surpassed a $30,000 commitment to support a boys high school in Oloirien—a Kenyan village adopted through WE’s “Adopt-a-Village” program.<br>As of 2016, WCCTWD has a new goal of raising $15,000 for Kalthana, a village in India—once again, adopted through WE. Led by a 7-member youth executive team and assisted by WCCTWD founder Heather Skoll, as well as mentor, Mariette Lee, WCCTWD is always at the forefront of the community and providing opportunities to get involved for people of any age.<br>Everyone is invited to We Can Change the World Day 3!
