But they did not really understand who Jesus was, or what He came to offer them. They thought they needed deliverance from their earthly enemies; they really needed salvation from their sin. Their real problem was not the Roman government; it was the wickedness in their own hearts. That is our problem, as well, and that is why Jesus came.
