Summary: From the beginning of manned flight there has been a symbiotic relationship between the aeroplane and simulation in all of its different forms. The role of simulation and flight simulators in aeroplane development, training and evaluation has evolved significantly over the last 80 years, often in response to technical innovations in both the airplane and ground support systems.
