Packed with 80's nostalgia and a seemingly endless amount of Easter Eggs found in the new trailer - could this be the return to form for Steven Spielberg, who's beloved films (mostly) came from the 80's and 90's? In a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Sony Pictures back in 1998 passed on purchasing the entire Marvel character catalogue for a price described as "dirt cheap." The characters that ultimately made up the current MCU, was offered to Sony by Marvel while negotiations were underway to bring Spider-Man to the screen. AGREE / DISAGREE A new Pacific Rim Uprising IMAX trailer was released online yesterday, showcasing all new footage from the upcoming sequel. Guillermo del Toro departed the director's chair to focus on The Shape of Water, with Daredevil Season 1 showrunner Steven S. DeKnight taking on directing duties. A24 announced yesterday that Robert Pattinson has signed on to join Willem Dafoe in the fantasy-horror movie The Lighthouse, from The Witch director Robert Eggers. RT Features and A24 are behind the project, which will head into production this spring from a script by Robert and Max Eggers, with a story set in the world of old sea-faring myths. Amazon Studios and STX Films have released the final trailer for the upcoming dark comedy Gringo. Directed by Nash Edgerton, the film stars David Oyelowo as a mild-mannered American businessman facing crushing debt who ventures to Mexico to hand-deliver a formula for a revolutionary new weed pill to a lab. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast of Kung Fury, the feature-length follow-up to the cult 2015 short that will star Michael Fassbender; with the trade reporting that Schwarzenegger will play the American president.
