During this SHAPE America Podcast, Matt Pomeroy interviews an expert group of panelists discussing health education classroom management. From tips for successful lesson planning to setting up your classroom for success, this podcast series will supply you with techniques for dealing with students who struggle to follow the rules/expectations of your class and offer activities that will keep your students engaged and empowered. Panelists include: * Justin Schleider - Justin has 10 years’ experience in physical and health education, and has spent the last 5 year teaching physical education, health, and technology in Springfield Elementary School in NJ. He is the brain behind #slowchatpe and slowchatpe.wordpress.com. He is also the co-creator of voxerpe.com and the voxer physical education chat which has 500 physical education teachers from all over the world. *Andy Milne – A graduate of Exeter University, Andy taught in London, England for 12 years before immigrating to the United States in 2008. He is currently beginning his 18th year of teaching health and physical education. Andy is the 2017 SHAPE America Midwest District Health Teacher of the Year. *Charlie Rizzuto - Charlie has been teaching health and physical education for seven years at Oyster Bay High School on Long Island, New York and works as an adjunct professor at Adelphi University. The current Nassau Zone President-Elect, Charlie was named Nassau Zone Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 2016 and will be recognized as the 2017 New York State Health Education Amazing Person of the Year this November. In addition, Charlie is the host and creator of the “HPE Quick Tips Podcast.” * Deanne Romero – Deanne has over 15 years’ experience teaching health and physical education at the both high school and middle school. She is currently enjoying trying to find new, exciting, and relevant activities for her students at Silver Hills Middle School in CO. Actively engaged with SHAPE Colorado, Deanne was named SHAPE Colorado Health TOY in 2015, and then awarded SHAPE America Central District Health TOY in 2017. *Adam Mullis – with a BS from Winthrop University and a Masters of Education from Walden University, Adam is currently the Co-Lead Teacher for the Middle School Health and Physical Education Department at the Richland County School District One in SC. The VP of Sport/Wellness Elect for The South Carolina Association for Physical Education and Sport, Adam also has spent the last two years coaching Volleyball, Track, and Football at the Middle School level.
