Use the best wood for the project you want to make, which in his world is aspen, poplar or maple (at least right now), and select the best tool for the job at hand. And when it comes to turning tools, he’s happy to see any turner using newer tool designs, such as those with replaceable carbide inserts. In fact, he makes several valid points during the discussion.
