Summary: From Pro Player To Pro Businessman... As Baby Boomers reach retirement age they are inadvertently creating one of the highest growth industries in the country - the Senior Care market. While many individuals are just realizing the implications of this "Silver Tsunami", Tafa Jefferson, CEO of Amada Senior Care, has been immersed in the industry for more than 20 years. Amada is announcing a nationwide expansion during the West Coast Franchise Expo, at the Anaheim Convention Center October 12th- 14th from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Tafa's mother, a caregiver herself, brought the inspiration for Amada Senior Care to light. As early as 8 years old, Tafa witnessed first hand the joy and satisfaction she gained from looking after seniors, despite the hard work required. A talented, imposing athlete, at 6'6" and 300 pounds, Tafa seemed destined for a career in football. In 1997, he joined the NFL as an offensive tackle for the Chicago Bears. A career-ending injury forced Tafa to go in a different direction. Tafa's mother suggested the senior care market, where Tafa could combine a desire to help others with his passion for business. He invited his college football teammate Chad Fotheringham to join him and Amada Home Care was born, later branded to Amada Senior Care, an agency based in Laguna Woods, CA that provides in-home care and guidance on senior housing options. They have built Amada into one of Orange County's premier senior service businesses, with hundreds of employees. "My family instilled the values of hard work, honesty and respect for others," said Tafa. "Football taught me the importance of dedication, application and teamwork as well as how to analyze situations to determine the best course of action. I am amazed at the crossover between sports and business." Chad and Tafa admit the journey has not always been an easy one. "It has taken a lot of hard work, a lot of late nights and a lot of gut wrenching decisions," said Chad, "but we are proud of what we have accomplished. We are now expanding nationally and already have two franchise partners in Washington and Colorado." CHECK OUT THE POSITIVE PHIL PODCAST https://www.positivephil.com
