Summary: Rodrigo de León González, deputy director of the Center for the Study of Institutional Governance at the IPADE Business School in Mexico; Raúl Benítez Manaut, president of the Colectivo de Analisis de la Seguridad Con Democracia (CASEDE); and Edgar Valle Álvarez and Azucena Chaidez associate directors and CEOs Sistemas de Inteligencia en Marcado y Opinión, presented the results of a public opinion survey on drugs and violence in Mexico. Richard Thornburgh, former U.S. attorney general; Alejandro Hope, director of Proyecto Menos Crimen y Menos Castigo (MC2); Vanda Felbab-Brown, foreign policy fellow at the Brookings Institution’s and a member of its 21st Century Defense Initiative; and Ronald Goldstock (moderator), commissioner of the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor and former director of the New York State Organized Crime Task Force, discussed “Drugs and Violence in Mexico: Public Policy vs. Public Opinion” on Wednesday, March 21.
