EP06 - The Murder of Lindsay Hawker

True Crime Japan Podcast show

Summary: Thousands of young people come to Japan each year to teach English as a second language, for most this is a wonderful chance to experience Japanese culture firsthand. This week’s episode is about one young woman, Lindsay Hawker, who did just that, but her story is not a happy one. Working as an English teacher in 2007, Hawker encountered Tatsuya Ichihashi, initially put off by his forward manner she eventually agreed to meet him at a cafe for a private lesson. The encounter would not go as planned. Hawker’s body would later be found in Ichihashi’s apartment, however her murderer would not face justice until after a nearly three-year long manhunt.
