Summary: Marianna moved from Venezuela at 13 with her family eager to learn English. Unfortunately, the school district they moved into didn’t have a great ESOL program, so she spent most of 6th, 7th and 8th grade watching movies and being taught in Spanish instead of learning English.<br> <br> Fortunately, she had great teachers in High School.
