He is the author of three historic film related books, BATTLEFILM: U.S. Army Signal Corps Motion Pictures of the Great War, WAR WINGS: Films of the First Air War, and PROJECTED HISTORY: A Catalog of the U.S. National Stories Released by Universal Newsreel, Volume One, 1929-1930. Phil is also putting the final touches on his latest work, AMERICA'S FILM VAULT: A Reference Guide to the Motion Pictures Held Within the U.S. National Archives. He is a member of the American Aviation Historical Society, the League of World War I Aviation Historians, and the Military Writers Society of America, among others. Along with his wife and two cats, he lives semi-quietly on the Emerald Coast of Florida.
