Summary: Matthew 10:40-42 ISV 40 “The one who receives you receives me, and the one who receives me receives the one who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet as a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person as a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42 I tell all of you with certainty, whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is a disciple will never lose his reward.” - Men do not see as God sees. - The world as it now is does not value what God values. Matthew 19:30 ISV But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first. - Who are you putting first in your life? - Do you value what Christ values? John 6:38 ISV For I have come down from Heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of the One who sent me. Luke 12:16-21 ISV 16 Then he told them a parable. He said, “The land of a certain rich man produced good crops. 17 So he began to think to himself, ‘What should I do, since I have no place to store my crops?' 18 Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and I’ll store all my grain and goods in them. 19 Then I’ll say to myself, “You’ve stored up plenty of good things for many years. Take it easy, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."' 20 But God told him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded back from you. Now who will get the things you’ve accumulated?’ 21 That’s how it is with the person who stores up treasures for himself rather than with God.” - God isn't against you being blessed! - God is opposed to you being self-centered. Ephesians 2:8-10 ISV 8 For by such grace you have been saved through faith. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God 9 and not the result of actions, to put a stop to all boasting. 10 For we are God's masterpiece, created in the Messiah Jesus to perform good actions that God prepared long ago to be our way of life. 2 Corinthians 5:9-10 ISV 9 So whether we are at home or away from home, our goal is to be pleasing to him. 10 For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah, so that each of us may receive what he deserves for what he has done in his body, whether good or worthless. 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 ISV 10 As an expert builder using the grace that God gave me, I laid the foundation, and someone else is building on it. But each person must be careful how he builds on it. 11 After all, no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is already laid, and that is Jesus the Messiah. 12 Whether a person builds on this foundation with gold, silver, expensive stones, wood, hay, or straw, 13 the workmanship of each person will become evident, for the day of judgment will show what it is, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s action. 14 If what a person has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. 15 If his work is burned up, he will suffer loss. However, he himself will be saved, but it will be like going through fire. Malachi 3:16-17 NLT 16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of his name. 17 "They will be my people,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. 1 Corinthians 3:10 ISV As an expert builder using the grace that God gave me... - You'll never be at your best when you are alone... - You're at your best when you're on a team! - You have influence that He doesn't have!
