The Tzedek group supporting Jewish victims of child sexual abuse will hold a Night of Healing session, in Melbourne to give community support and to encourage those who have not yet sought help to come forward. The campaign to posthumously promote General Sir John Monash to the rank of Field Marshal, which Tim Fisher and others believe was denied him because of his Prussian-Polish Jewish immigrant background, continued its efforts with a special session in the Parliament of NSW on the 8th March. The Courage to Care travelling exhibition and education project, about Holocaust and other genocides and atrocities rescuers, will take its revamped, technologically updated exhibition to Bendigo in Central Victoria, to continue this important work, which has so far reached more than 100 thousand students in that state alone. Produced by the Kadimah and SKIF, this years FREE festival features an outstanding concert line-up starring Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier, Klezmania, the brand-new big band YID!, the Bashevis Singers and US klezmer duo The Unternationale most famous for penning the Yiddish version of Leonard Cohens Hallelujah. Also on offer are an art exhibition, craft stalls, community stalls, a bagel-eating competition, cooking demonstrations, a cake competition and kids zone.
