Her current technical interests are F#, games, programming languages and philosophy of computing . She really enjoys finding different ways to write code, sometimes for performance, other times for succinctness, sometimes, just because you can, there is no better way to learn than trying. When she is not working she tends to play with Haskell or other languages or cats Conferences and meetups are a great way to learn more, so she tries to help when she can to make them happen. For that reason she co-organises Functional Kats and GameCraft. She also speaks at local and international conferences like CodeMesh, Progressive.Net, ProF#, Lambda Days and many more. </p> </div> <div class="podcast-chapters"> <h6>Chapters:</h6> <ul> <li><a href="#!"> - Dave introduced the show and Andrea Magnorsky</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's definition of value</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - The things that "light Andrea up"</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - How Andrea got started in software</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Networking machines and humans, the appeal of hardware</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's story of failure - delivered game falling short of expectations for fame and fortune</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's story of success - Organizing a conference that was a huge success</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Functional Kats</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's love for cats</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - How Andrea stays current with what she needs to know</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Filtering the many options for things to learn and do</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's book recommendation</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - The things that have Andrea most excited</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's greatest sources of pain</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - The things about which Andrea likes to geek out apart from software</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's prediction for the future of software</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Andrea's top 3 tips for delivering more value</a></li> <li><a href="#!"> - Keeping up with Andrea</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="podcast-resources"> <h6>Resources:</h6> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.roundcrisis.com/" target="_blank">Andrea's Blog</a></li> <li><a href="http://batcatgames.com/blog/" target="_blank">Andrea's Game Business: BatCat Games</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.meetup.com/FunctionalKats/" target="_blank">Functional Kats Meeup</a></li> <li><a href="https://www.gamecraft.it/" target="_blank">GameCraft</a></li> <li><a href="http://developeronfire.com/episode-049-dave-thomas-programmer-first" target="_blank">Dave Thomas on Developer on Fire</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.digitalfurnacegames.com/" target="_blank">Onikira: Demon Killer</a></li> <li><a href="http://store.steampowered.com/app/310850" target="_blank">Onikira: Demon Killer on Steam</a></li> <li><a href="http://functionalkats.com/#nav-speakers" target="_blank">Kats Conf 15</a></li> <li><a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/0992251656?tag=devonfir-20" target="_blank">Firefly: The Game</a></li> <li><a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/158994206X?tag=devonfir-20" target="_blank">Twilight Imperium</a></li> <li><a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MHWUJA0?tag=devonfir-20" target="_blank">Ultimate Werewolf Deluxe Edition Board Game</a></li> <li><a href="http://witheve.com/" target="_blank">Eve</a></li> <li><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Silver_Bullet" target="_blank">No Silver Bullet - Frederick Brooks</a></li> </ul> </div> <div class="podcast-book-recommendation"> <h6>Andrea's book recommendation:</h6> <ul> <li><a href="https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0026772N8?tag=devonfir-20" target="_blank">Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert M.
