Two new Australian MPs from a Jewish background, Liberal Julian Leeser and Labors Dr Mike Freelander, spoke about their Jewish families longtime Australian heritage and values, in their maiden speeches in Parliament this week. A school in Alice Springs apologised unreservedly to visiting Jewish students and their Bialik College in Melbourne, for an unfortunate, innocent mistake, when one of their students was permitted to dress-up as Adolf Hitler, as part of the dress-up for the Book Week celebrations at the school.
