Father of Faith - Part 2

Church on the Move Podcast show

Summary: Genesis 12:1-3 KJV 1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, "Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed." The nature of God's blessing is like a pipe, not a bottle. Just like Abram, we will have to step out in faith to experience this blessing. Genesis 12:6-7 KJV 6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. 7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him. Signs from God come to those who step out in faith. God led Abram in easy stages. Genesis 12:9 KJV 9 And Abram journeyed, going on still toward the south. Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my Shepherd. I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures: He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul: He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Genesis 12:10 KJV 10 And there was a famine in the land: and Abram went down into Egypt to sojourn there; for the famine was grievous in the land. Just because God makes you a promise doesn't mean you won't be challenged. God was faithful to Abram even in his moments of weakness. Genesis 12:3 KJV And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him who curses thee. Genesis 12:11-13 KJV 11 And it came to pass, when he was come near to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his wife, "Behold now, I know that you are a fair woman to look upon: 12 Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, 'This is his wife': and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive. 13 Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister: that it may be well with me for thy sake; and my soul shall live because of thee." If God developed Abram's faith over a period of time, will He not do the same for you? If Abram was led in easy stages, will not God lead you in the same way? Just because you can't see it, doesn't mean you have not grown spiritually! Faith in God is a life-long journey. He will be faithful even when you stumble!
