WS825: Andrea Zonn and Jackie Greene

The Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour Podcast show

Summary: ANDREA ZONN is one of the most respected fiddle players and harmony vocalists in contemporary music today. Her years on the road as a fiddler and harmony singer for James Taylor, Vince Gill, Trace Adkins and others have drawn her close to some important artists. Zonn’s wide-ranging tastes and twin training in classical and traditional music helped her find extensive studio work, including recordings with Linda Ronstadt, George Jones, Amy Grant and countless others. 'Rise', Zonn’s second album as an artist on Compass Records, shows off Andrea digging into songcraft with focus and newfound confidence. It includes appearances by some of her friends and colleagues. like Taylor, Gill, Keb' Mo', Sam Bush, John Cowan and others. JACKIE GREENE has an uncanny knack for synthesizing his deep affinity for American roots styles into timeless, personally-charged music. Armed with a persuasive voice, a vivid songwriting skill and an instinctive mastery of several instruments, Greene has carved out a unique musical niche, and the new album marks another creative landmark in his already compelling body of work. Although Back to Birth is Greene’s first new solo release in five years, he’s hardly been idle. In fact, he’s spent much of the past few years engaging in a series of collaborative musical adventures including touring with the Black Crowes, Phil Lesh & Friends and the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir plus the release of the self-titled debut album of supergroup Trigger Hippy featuring Greene and Joan Osborne. Woodsongs Kid: Willamson Branch is family bluegrass band from Nashville, Tennessee.
