Episode 307: Vegan Scene’s Amy Rebecca; Robin Lamont on “Dogs on the Inside”; and Piper Hoffman on The Animal Law Conference

Our Hen House show

Summary: Welcome to the 307th episode of Our Hen House, featuring Amy Rebecca from Vegan Scene, Piper Hoffman providing insights from the recent Animal Law Conference, and a review of Dogs on the Inside as told by Robin Lamont. As always, the award-winning, weekly Our Hen House podcast is hosted by us — Jasmin Singer and Mariann Sullivan.
On today’s episode, we squawk about St. Roch and his awesome dog; when Irish music meets politics (and why that inspires us as animal rights activists); and Mariann’s most recent episode of The Animal Law Podcast. Pundit and writer Piper Hoffman will join us for today’s “Ramblings,” to give us her expert take on the recent Animal Law Conference.
Our feature interview today is with entrepreneur Amy Rebecca, the mastermind behind Vegan Scene, a vegan lifestyle center and store in Los Angeles. Amy will give us the skinny behind this booming ethical business, and will let us in on other things too, such as how she created the extremely popular #VegansofIG hashtag, and how she plans to change the world for animals.
Then, we’ll be joined by author Robin Lamont, who will give her review on the film, Dogs on the Inside, a film which follows the relationships between abused stray dogs and prison inmates working towards a second chance at a better life.
All that, vegan banter, and of course, current events from the world of animal rights. There’s lots of “Rising Anxieties” today, too, so hold onto your seitan!
You can listen to our podcast directly on our website (beneath this paragraph!) or you can listen and subscribe on iTunes or Stitcher!
