Summary: This program will explore the importance of public policy and advocacy for addiction prevention, treatment and recovery-support. We'll look back on 2007's unprecedented slate of addiction-focused bills in Congress and ahead to November's presidential elections and beyond.We'll also discuss March's Advocacy in Action conference, designed for addiction professionals and treatment providers. Our guests will be Gerry Schmidt, Co-Chair of the NAADAC-NAATP Public Policy Committee, and Daniel Guarnera, NAADAC-NAATP Government Relations Liaison. Daniel Guarnera is the Government Relations Liaison for NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, and the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP). Gerry Schmidt, MA, LPC, MAC the Vice President and Chief Development Officer at Valley HealthCare System since September 1980, has been in the mental health and addictions treatment profession for over thirty five years.
