På ön finns Moderna museet, liksom Arkitekturmuseet och Östasiatiska museet. Där finns också Teater Galeasen och af Chapman, ett gammalt skepp som är nu det mest kända vandrarhemmet i landet. Teater Galeasen är ett måste för alla konstfantaster. Deras föreställningar är avantgardistiska och till stor del experimentella. Inne på Modern museer hittar man inte bara verk av svenska konstnärer, men också legendariska konstnärer som Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse och Georges Braque. Intill Skeppsholmen ligger Blasieholmen, som i kombination med Skeppsholmen skapar ett viktigt konstcentrum i området. På Blasieholmen finns Nationalmuseum, hem för en otrolig samling av skulpturer, målningar och konsthantverk av europeiska och skandinaviska konstnärer. I närheten ligger också Stadshuset, ett fantastiskt exempel på svensk arkitektur. Den bästa tiden på året att besöka detta område är på sommaren då Stockholm Jazz Festival pågår. The island is very easy to get to because bridges connect it to the mainland. You can either drive or take a ferry over to the island, which is located right in the Baltic Sea at Stockholm. In ancient times, the island was a military stronghold used to protect Sweden's capital, but today it is largely an arts and culture center. On the island you will find the Museum of Modern Art, as well as the Swedish Museum of Architecture and the East Asian museum. You'll also find the Teater Galeasen and the af Chapman, an ancient ship that is now the most famous youth hostel in the country. The Teater Galeasen is a destination that no arts junkie will want to miss. Their performances are distinctly avant-garde and largely experimental.
