Summary: In the Garden of Eden, the serpent appealed to mankind's intellectual reasoning, emotions, and will through their soul. It was this soulish encounter that gave them the promise of wisdom, enlightenment, and the ability to become gods. It was Gnosticism, a hidden secret knowledge that was not previously known by the spirit of mankind. It was this Gnostic lie that promised them they would not see death. Once the soul was corrupted and compromised, then the body became animal flesh and weak, which animal instincts and desires now controlled the soul. The spirit of God, which had been breathed into humans now became darkness and light fled from them. Fallen humans were now totally controlled by their lower natures through their souls or personalities. Mankind being totally depraved succumbed to every evil and wicked thought and imagination possible until they were eliminated from the planet except for eight souls. With the coming of YWHW in human form to make atonement for humans and provide a way for the human spirit to be regenerated or reborn into its original design in the Garden, humans could now overcome the darkness by reuniting their spirits in God's Spirit. However, this still leaves the soul and the body open to demonic attack. This is why is vital to place the soul with its will, emotions, intellect, reasoning, and personality under subjection of the renewed spirit, thus the body or animal nature will be subjected also. Until the Yeshua follower is totally submitted to Him, the soulish nature can still be assessed by the serpent who whispers his Gnostic lie that we can be gods and gain earthly wisdom. This wisdom is from demons below and not from YWHW above.
