The Apollo 11 Moon Landing. Where Were You on July 20, 1969?

The Baby Boomer Radio, TV, Movies, Magazines, Music, Comics, Fads, Toys, Fun, and More Show! show

Summary: We look back to the 45th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing on this episode of Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site. Mike, Smitty, and George look back to those days as the United States moved forward toward fulfilling President Kennedy's goal of landing a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s and returning him safely to earth. In the midst of so much turmoil, the Vietnam war, assassinations, and social upheaval, the moon landing was accomplished on July 20, 1969. We look at the space race, which was as much a story of the Cold War as it was reaching the moon, we draw the parallels between science fiction, which became science fact. And we look at the exceptionalism of the American Astronauts, the best of the best, certainly the Apollo 11 crew were just that; Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Join us as we look back to those exciting days of America's triumph in space on Galaxy Moonbeam Night Site, on the Galaxy Nostalgia Network!
