Writing with a collaborator, with a partner, can be a tremendously satisfying and rewarding process. If you do, you need to have really clear lines of communication. Set up all the boundaries and the responsibilities beforehand and make sure that everyone is crystal clear on them. If you’re going to do it, no matter how friendly you feel toward your co-author, no matter how much you trust one another, I would urge you to put everything in writing so that if for some reason a dispute does arise, all you have to do is reference the contract, and the problem will hopefully be resolved.
