2014-05-17 Democrats Shutting Down Debate

Glen Meakem | Veteran Entrepreneur » Show show

Summary: Whether it’s Obamacare, Global Warming, or refusing to vote on Republican Amendments in the Senate, Democrats are shutting down debate and ignoring the will of the American people. This weekend, Glen talks about the growing intolerance of the liberal left, and the need for Conservatives to take back the Senate this November.  Glen talks with Brandon McGinley (field director for the Pennsylvania Family Institute) about Obama’s decision to force Christians to pay for contraception and abortifacient drugs, even if doing so violates their deeply held religious convictions.  Brandon wrote about conscientious objection and “Obamacare Among the Mennonites” in the print edition of National Review Online. Glen also talks with Clark Judge (Managing Director of the White House Writers Group and a former speech writer for President Ronald Reagan) about the latest headlines coming out of Ukraine.  Clark also gives us his thoughts on the Washington D.C. scandals (including the VA scandal), and Republican chances of retaking the Senate during November’s elections. Glen also talks with two wonderful entrepreneurs, Cathi Nelson (Founder and President of the Association of Personal Photo Organizers) and Ed Stack (Chairman and CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods) about what it takes to be successful in business and life. Glen Meakem is a successful technology entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and conservative talk radio show host, who offers information and insights on how individuals, our states, and our nation can be more successful. Glen’s unique perspective has been shaped by his experiences as founder, chairman and CEO of the B2B internet success Freemarkets Inc – which he founded in 1995, took public in 1999, and sold to Ariba in 2004. In 2006, Glen co-founded Meakem Becker Venture Capital, a firm that invests in early stage start up companies.  More recently, Glen has founded and is the Chief Executive Officer of a new internet company called Forever.com.  Concerned about the liberal political agenda that had gripped the United States and his home state of Pennsylvania, Glen launched the radio program, “Glen Meakem on the Weekend” in 2008. Glen served as an officer in the United States Army Reserve and is a veteran of the First Gulf War. He earned his undergraduate degree from Harvard and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
