Students With Food Allergies on the Rise: Are You Prepared?

Summary: Increasing numbers of students are being impacted by food allergies. Allergies may be life threatening, but there are many things school nurses can do to increase awareness and prepare everyone to respond when needed. Follow: @schoolnurses @bamradionetwork Andrea Tanner has been a school nurse for the past thirteen years and worked with Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle School and Special Education Students in self-contained classrooms. She has served two years as President Elect of the South Dakota School Nurses Association and currently in her second year as the President of the SDSNA. School Nurse Sally Schoessler, RN, BSN, MSEd NASN, is a Director of Nursing Education for the National Association of School Nurses. She has over 20 years of experience in school nursing as a school nurse in both elementary and secondary settings in public and private school settings and served as the Executive Director of the New York Statewide School Health Services Center.
