E448: Sleek Faraday Bikes reinvent urban cycling

This Week in Startups - Video show

Summary: If I say electric bike, you probably imagine a noisy, hideous beast of a thing that weighs a ton. That's decidedly not what Adam Vollmer has designed. Faraday Bikes has morphed from a design competition concept, to a Kickstarter, and now is accepting preorders for its next run. This is possibly the prettiest city bike you've ever seen. Clean lines, quiet, battery power helps to power up hills. Adam honed his engineering and design background at the top design firm IDEO, known for its work with Apple and transparent "design thinking" process. In this interview, he tells Jason about an even bigger challenge than bikes -- working to redesign the tampon.
