Summary: Guest host Dr. Mark Green, will be interviewing author, professor and psychiatrist Douglas Turkington, MD. Douglas is a liaison psychiatrist at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. He is also Professor of Psychosocial Psychiatry in the School of Neurology, Neuroscience and Psychiatry at Newcastle University. A founding fellow of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy, he presents widely on the topic of cognitive-behavioral therapy of schizophrenia, and is actively involved in treatment development and research. Turkington is also an accomplished author and his most recent book is titled ‘Back to Life, Back to Normality’. The book discusses real life case studies and success stories to prove that sufferers of psychosis can be helped with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to influence problematic and dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure.
