[V] Weekly Tournament Report – 3.4.14

Team Covenant show

Summary: Last week was an amazing week for events here at the store. In this weeks report Zach and Steven discuss the Star Wars LCG Store Championship, and all of our other weekly events and their winners. Watch below! Star Wars LCG This week our Star Wars LCG tournament winner was once again Dennis “Big D” Harlien. Dennis was playing his standard Sleuth Scouts for his light side, and Sith control deck for his dark side. His Sith deck started Imperial and splashed Sith. Dennis once again said that the key to his victory was running the juice. Dennis learned that Dark Precognition can win games. Dennis would like to give a shout out to Matt, Joe, Jesse, and the rest of the players. “I'm starting to sweat". "Never underestimate the power of the juice." Netrunner Our weekly Netrunner winner was Jonathon Crossley. Jonathon was playing an NBN fast advance Scorched Earth deck for his corporation and a “Mac” Shaper Account Siphon deck for his runner. The NBN deck had a strong economy touting PAD campaigns as a main staple. He was running some pretty standard tricks and ICE, but his solid gameplay took him to the top. His “Mac” deck was running an Anarch suite that he would tutor with SMC and Test Run. He spent a large amount of influence on Account Siphon. This was a key factor in his victory. He was able to secure his economic advantage by draining the corporation of all of it's money. Jonathon wanted to give a shout out to Ben Ruggles for being awesome and supportive. “Bad Publicity is BAD” Game of Thrones The winner of our Game of Thrones event this week was Matt Phillips. Matt was playing a Baratheon Black Sails deck. His deck had an emphasis control and recursion. His deck included Nightmares, Terminal Schemes, Mel's Favor, and The Black Cells. Matt said, “I learned that control cards win games." Matt would like to give shout outs to Schlotzky's for a delicious dinner, and to all of his opponents. Melisandre's Scheme's to recur characters and Dale for early game economy was key to Matt's victory. Star Wars LCG Store Championship This past Saturday was our Star Wars LCG Store Championship. Our winner of the day was Joe Freeman. Joe went into the cut as the two seed. He was running a deck a speeder deck for Light Side, and a scrappy Sith Hoth deck for his Dark Side. Here are his deck lists: Light Side Dark Side Jedi Affiliatiion Sith Affiliation 2x Hoth Operations 2x Imperial Command 2x Defense of Yavin 4 2x A Dark Time for the Rebellion 2x Attack Pattern Delta 2x Vader's Fist 1x Blue Squadron Support 2x Killing Cold 2x A Heroes Resolve 1x Repair and Refurbish 1x A Journey to Dagoboh 1x Shadows on the Ice Joe says that his MVP card of the day was Vader's Fist. Although Joe played a slew of Sleuth Scout decks his dark side deck did not lose a game all day. Between desolation of Hoth and Repair and Refurbish Joe was able to keep Vader's Fist clenched tightly around his opponents throats. A couple of other key components to Joe's victory was remembering triggers and winning edge battles. On the Light Side Hoth Operations had a great deal to do with winning those edge battles. "I would play three or four dudes every turn and send them on suicide runs just to push the damage through." said Joe. Joe wanted to give shout outs to Zach, Jeremy, and Brad. "I did it mom!"
