Because Congress recessed for the holiday season without extending unemployment payments, as it had in previous years. That (non-) move cuts off money to more than a million people immediately, and many more in the months ahead.  We visit with the<a href="http://www.nelp.org/" target="_blank"><strong> National Employment Law Project</strong></a> about the payments and the prospects for getting them restored. </p><p></p>
