Summary: It’s time to look back on the last year in Indy wrestling with the beginning of the 2013 Year In Review on this week’s Whole Indy Show with Ashley, Sandro & Randy. The first area they cover is Japanese wrestling with New Japan continuing on strong from 2012, DragonGate Japan having a good year and All Japan having quite a few ups and downs both in the ring and behind the scenes, with DDT and WRESTLE-1 also getting talked about. There’s also a brief set of honorable mentions for the minor Californian promotions, such as Championship Wrestling From Hollywood, EWF, Fighting Spirit, as well as Wrestling Cares, FWE and 2CW.
Part 2 continues the international flavor with the Mexican Lucha Libre scene, with some major controversies for both CMLL and AAA on their biggest shows of the year, for the fans in attendance and fans watching via iPPV respectively. There’s also the TV deal that has ended for CMLL and its effects as well as AAA’s brand split which has seemingly been scrapped. Also, the guys discuss the confusing and crazy year that CHIKARA and Wrestling Is has been having with it’s biggest show ever, its ‘final’ show in June, the spin-offs seemingly struggling in the most part and now the gradual shutdowns of the Wrestling Is promotions by major heels of CHIKARA’s past, possibly hinting towards a return in 2014.
The final segment has your weekly round-up with news on more matches added for Evolve’s shows in Florida, Kevin Steen’s Weekend Escapade surprise and the latest Chikara Ashes video, History. There’s then results from AIW’s Dead Presidents and AAW’s One Twisted Christmas shows from last week, followed by previews of this week’s EWF show (thanks to L-Train for his e-mail), New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 8 iPPV and ROH’s first TV tapings for the new year, with the return of AJ Styles to a ROH ring for the first time in about 7 years.
