Henry Lincoln Johnson who on May 14, 1918, while incurring 21 separate wounds, rescued a fellow soldier from German captivity killed numerous Germans with a French Lebel rifle and bolo knife. He was awarded the France's highest military award "Croix de Guere" with Gold Palm. Subsequent to the World War II veterans, our efforts will then focus on our Korean War and then Vietnam War veterans, honoring them similarly.
