God proved that the Incarnation was His work in two ways: by pre-announcing it and by miracles. There is no other founder of any religion whose birth was pre-announced; God pre-announced the birth of Christ so that we might not be fooled by impostors. Similarly, the end of the world is pre-announced: we have been given types of the end of the world, such as the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem; and we have been given the signs to look for that will tell us when the end is immanent, so that we may be prepared. Most of all, since we must stand in judgment before God after death, we must be prepared for the end of our own world, and the destruction of the temples that are our bodies.
