5lspecials: Fighting Fit

5 live Sport Specials show

Summary: People up and down the country stopped for a two minute silence for Armistice Day. It was a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by our servicemen and women in nearly a hundred years of conflict. But as British troops prepare to withdraw from Afghanistan next year, hear how the head of the Army sees sport at the heart of the service's future. Eleanor Oldroyd is joined by Major-General Christopher Elliot - Director of the Army Sport Control Board, Lance Corporal Ricky Reeves who's currently plying his trade as a prop on the pitches of Wasps Rugby Club and Emma Fowler, Great Britain's first and only female Olympic biathlete - she went to the Turin Winter Games in 2006 and is now an instructor at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. You can hear from Olympic heroes as well as those who have survived heroic actions on duty abroad.
