Arctic Alchemy - Episode #128

The Beer Temple Podcast (HD) show

Summary: During the first English expeditions to the North pole, Allsopp Brewery of Burton-on-Trent would brew special "Arctic Ales" for the explorers. These beers, a close cousin to modern barleywines, would weather the chilly temperatures and proved to have amazingly long shelf lives. To this day, some of the original arctic ales are still drinkable over 175 years after they were brewed. Chris and Margaret taste a recreation of the Arctic Ale, based on the original Allsopp recipe.
