Summary: Join us in celebrating the birthdays of Baba Luther Gray on Sunday, August 4, 2013 and the Legendary Jazz great -Pops, Louis Armstrong's 112th birthday by attending the Congo Square Preservation Society Celebration in Congo Square at 2PM. This free celebration will feature an incredible Congo Square Drum & Dance Circle that you can participate in beginning in Congo Square at 2PM Sunday (and every Sunday at 2PM). Then join us at Café Istanbul located 2372 St. Claude Ave in New Orleans from 7-10pm. We will have Congo Square shirts, books by Freddi Williams Evans, art by Marcus Akinlana, soaps by Zion Trinity and food. Writers like Chuck Perkins, John Swinson and others will be reading from Louis Armstrong's journals. Pops is considered the first jazz journalist as well as the International ambassador of Jazz.
